無論「for the above <数> reasons」は間違いなどではありません。「上の理由から...」と言う場合、私は「For the above <数> reasons.... 」と書くようにしています。「上述の理由から/上に挙げた理由から...」とする場合には、「For the <数> reasons mentioned/listed above」と後置します。生徒にもそのように指導していますが、おかしな採点者もいることを考えると試験対策としては安全策を取って書かせるべきなのだろうかと迷うこともあります。大学入試ではさすがに大丈夫だとは思いますが...実に嫌な悩みどころです。
他にも「For the aforementioned reasons」や「For the above-mentioned reasons」と言った書き方もあります。後者はProgress 21のBook 3 Lesson 3で学習する複合分詞を用いた表現です。いずれの表現も英語の学術論文を読んでいればよく見かけるものであり、いずれも文法的に正しい表現です。aboveには①前置詞、②副詞、③形容詞の３つの用法があります。つまり「for the reasons above」はaboveを副詞として用いていて、「for the above reasons」は形容詞として用いているというわけです。

なお「以下の理由により...」なら「for the following reasons....」または「for the reasons that follow....」を私はもっぱら用います。「For the below reasons...」や「For the reasons below....」という表現もありますが、これら（特に前者）はあまり用いません...単に好みの問題ですね。文脈によって表現を変えたり、あるいは単に気分で違った書き方にしたり、ということもあります...「私は用いる/用いない」などと書いてきましたが、今ではこうした学術的な硬い文章を書く機会はほとんど無いのですけれども。
ちなみに吉祥寺校には、平石先生が読んでいるのであろうラッセルの数学原理やゲーデルの不完全性定理か何かの原書が教室内に転がっていたりします。
